Dangerous Rider. Armed. Stopped. Arrested

A 17-year-old male riding a stolen motorbike (taken from the Roundhay area) was spotted by patrol officers riding dangerously. When signalled to stop — he didn’t. Instead, he made off at speed, taking the bike off-road in a reckless attempt to escape.

But with NPAS (police helicopter) tracking him from above and multiple units on the ground, he ran out of road — and options.

 A stinger was deployed, slowing the bike and forcing the rider to give up in the Adel area.

During the pursuit, the male discarded a large machete, which was recovered by officers.

He was swiftly arrested for:

Theft of a Motor Vehicle

Dangerous Driving

Failing to Stop

Driving Otherwise than in Accordance with a Licence

No Insurance

Possession of an Offensive Weapon

Thanks to great teamwork from NPAS, response officers, and roads policing, another stolen bike has been recovered — and a dangerous offender is off the streets.
